Adrian Appiolaza was installed as Moschino creative director back in January 2023, following the passing of David Renne. Given just one month to build his debut collection, the Argentinian designer ultimately received a standing ovation here on theFashionSpot, upon presenting his highly-anticipated collection during the Fall 2024 season of Milan Fashion Week. Five months later and Appiolaza’s first campaign as the creative force behind the luxury Italian fashion house is here. For the “Collezione 0” campaign offering, Appiolaza commissioned Willy Vanderperre to further display his vision for Moschino. The Belgian photographer ventured to Milan to shoot the campaign, which tells the story of five women enjoying the energy and beauty of the Italian city. Those women include models Farah Nieuwburg, Julia Nobis, Laura Rylands, Lina Zhang and Rabina Righi, who roam Milan throughout the joyous campaign images.
Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:
“Oh lord… where is Steven Meisel? Because this is a disaster,” immediately called out Scotty.
“This collection deserves better. This is bad,” TaylorBinque chimed in.
Also not impressed was forum member mikel, commenting: “Willy Vanderperre is so not suitable for this.”
Not everyone, however, was so unsatisfied with the end result. “I’m actually surprised and pleasantly surprised. I love unexpected matches and nobody would have predicted that Appiolaza would call Willy Vanderperre. It’s interesting and it offers a new POV for Moschino,” Lola701 commended.
“Appiolaza manages to loosen up the signature cold austerity in Willy’s work . Not pretending this is easy on the eyes but I’m intrigued about this combo and will be waiting to see if it’ll turn out to be a fruitful collaboration 2-3 seasons in,” added alwaysademo.
“Yeah… no,” replied lookatme. “So tired of this amateur looking, snapshot photography for fashion. Are we ever going to see something in fashion with some effort and narrative and production value ever again?”
